Seeing for Myself
Janice Buck
I would certainly like to thank those involved in the task of selecting the CA team who would have the opportunity to participate in the Chirstmas Joy Project for 2007. As you know, I have been involved in WAC for many years as Missions Chairman for our Pamlico District and my local church. I cannot tell you the number of missionary friends I have now as a result of being involved in WAC and working on projects all around the world. But this trip allowed me to step outside of my comfort zone and actually see for myself what our missionaries are doing on a daily basis.
I receive updates regularly on the ministry in Almaty and what our brothers and sisters in Christ are doing as far as ministering to their own people. I was able to share at our local December WAC meeting the one-on-one project which was being promoted during this time. I cannot tell you how excited I was when we arrived in Almaty and actually got to work along side our BMI team in helping assemble these materials for distribution all across Central Asia. This was truly one of the highlights of the trip for me and to acutally see their commitment and dedication and genuine love and concern for those lost around them.
Of course I have been involved with projects with Kidz to Kamp plus Christmas Joy 2006 for the last 2-3 years now in promoting and raising funds for children for these projects. So I already had a love for the children of CA and now through this project I was able to get to be around a lot of these children. Almost every service we attended, the children were so attentive to the skit and what was being said and you could tell how much they enjoyed the program. I think they enjoyed the program almost as much as they did the gift they received at the end. I think one of my favorite places was the boarding school way out in the country. These were older children but I was impressed with the teenage boys and girls who listened and the smiles on their faces certainly let you know they enjoyed the skit and the program. I don't remember anyone in this large group of kids misbehaving or not paying attention during the program...not one! What a blessing to be able to share with them the true message of Christmas.
I now also have a peace about Angela Emerick going to this area to minister. It was great to see and witness the dedication of the BMI staff she will be working along side of and their love already for her and her for them. I know God will richly bless them as they work together to share His good news to the people in this area.
I only pray the team will not lose what we felt during the days we were there but the fire for CA will continue to burn in our hearts for the lost souls in this country. I hope we will take the pictures of these children from the various places we visited and make prayer cards which we can distribute and pray for these various new ministries which BMI visited for the first time that the seeds sown will have fell on fertile soil and that souls will be won for Him.
Praise God for this great opportunity you allowed each of the team members to experience by picking up to go. I am forever greatful God allowed me the blessing of this trip and pray another door will open again in the future to be able to participate and go again.
