Women Active for Christ at Leadington Free Will Baptist Church, Missouri, recently hosted a benefit for triplets (grandchildren of a couple in the congregation) whose mother has been missing since June 1. What began as a yard sale snowballed into a community-wide event extravaganza that netted over $9,000 for the children’s care and education. Read the whole story and view pictures of the event.

Master’s Men and WNAC invite couples to a weekend of retreat and renewal.  Husbands and wives can enjoy time together and time away while they gain biblical principles and practical advice for “Staying in Love.” Two dates in two different locations offer flexibility.

Identical conferences February 17-19 at the Doubletree Hotel in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and March 23-25 at the Grand Plaza Hotel in Branson, Missouri will feature Brother Joe Grizzle as speaker. Brother Grizzle and his wife Billie not only enjoy a lasting marriage, but have also guided and encouraged countless couples throughout their years of ministry at CrossPointe Free Will Baptist Church of Norman, Oklahoma.

The weekend conferences run Friday evening through Sunday noon and include scheduled sessions, pocketed times for interaction and fellowship, a free afternoon for rest and/or exploring the area, a Saturday night banquet and Sunday morning worship.

Lighting the way for a new day of ministry among Spanish speakers

WNAC seeks to raise $75,000 for Christian educational efforts among Spanish-speaking Free Will Baptists. All gifts will be equally divided among these three ministries: Seminary of the Cross (Northern Mexico), IBLAC—Altamira Bible Institute (Southern Mexico) and the Gwen Hendrix Hispanic Bible Institute (South Carolina).

Nearly 1,000 women, individual members of the body of Christ, came together to strengthen each other in Christ at the WNAC Convention, Tuesday, July 19, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The one-day event included times of worship, sharing, planning and celebrating God’s work among Women Nationally Active for Christ.

 A spirit of cooperation characterized the meeting. Attendees freely shared prayer requests and praise items and offered thoughts and proven ideas for building women’s ministries. Two afternoon brainstorming sessions attracted over 100 women who came to make suggestions and glean creative ideas from others.

 Delegates adopted the following guidelines for the Mary R. Wisehart Scholarship:

1. Recipient must be a female student enrolled full-time.
2. Recipient must be a member in good standing of a Free Will Baptist church or mission.
3. Recipient must be enrolled in one of the Free Will Baptist colleges:
   Free Will Baptist Bible College, Nashville, TN
   Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College, Moore, OK
   California Christian College, Fresno, CA
   Southeastern Free Will Baptist College, Wendell, NC
   Gateway Free Will Baptist College, Virginia Beach, VA.
4. Recipient must be a sophomore, junior, or senior.
5. Recipient must maintain a grade point average of a “C” or above.
6. Recipient must exemplify Christian qualities and display continuing spiritual growth.
7. Recipient will be chosen by the scholarship committee of the designated college
8. Recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
9. Recipient may apply annually.

Women voted to send $1,200 in Cleo Pursell Foreign Student Scholarship monies for students at the Seminary of the Cross, Reynosa, Mexico. Delegates also agreed to extend Shine 75!, the WNAC national project until July 2012. Shine 75! seeks to raise  $75,000 for Free Will Baptist Hispanic Bible institutes in the U. S. and Mexico. To date, donations to the project exceed $27,000.

Women also resolved to stand and pray with California WAC in support of Proposition 8 regarding the legal definition of marriage.

Director Elizabeth Hodges noted a two percent rise in membership and an increase in giving. In 2011, women gave over $560,800 to missions and ministry causes. In spite of economic woes, WNAC ended its fiscal year in the black. Women gave generously at the convention. The day’s worship offering totaled over $1,600.

North Carolina Women Active for Christ went all out for the gala event. Under the leadership of Diane Bridgman, they led worship, provided outstanding special music, contributed floral arrangements and elegant table decorations and served as hostesses for the annual Fellowship Luncheon.

Missionary speakers Steve and Judy Lytle reminded worshipers that God gives spiritual gifts for the purpose of building the body of Christ. They shared how God had equipped them with differing gifts for different seasons of their lives and profiled Panamanian believers, detailing ways God is using their giftedness to build the body of Christ in that region of the world.

Later, pastor’s wife Carolyn Dwyer shared personal accounts of individuals whom God has used to strengthen her spiritual life. She challenged listeners to compile their own list of Body Builders and begin saying thanks.

This was the first year for WNAC’s new one-day format. Comments have been generally favorable. WNAC welcomes your feedback and suggestions for making its 2012 Convention even better.
